Our Process
Custom work can feel like an unknown — how long will it take, what do you need to decide, when do you pay. Here's exactly what to expect, start to finish.
Custom work can feel like an unknown — how long will it take, what do you need to decide, when do you pay. Here's exactly what to expect, start to finish.
We come to you. We'll walk through your space, talk through your goals, and get a sense of your budget — no obligation, no pressure. This is also where we'll flag anything about your space (structural quirks, existing architecture) that affects design options.
What we need from you: Just your time and your honest sense of what's not working in the space.
Typical length: 30–60 minutes on-site.
We create detailed digital renderings so you can see exactly how your built-in will look before anything is built — dimensions, materials, finish, layout, all mapped out. We'll walk through revisions together until it's right.
What we need from you: Feedback on the renderings, and any final material/finish decisions.
Typical length: Varies by project complexity — we'll give you a specific estimate after the consultation.
Once the design is approved, we build your piece with the same attention to detail whether it's a small bookcase or a full mudroom system. We focus on a limited number of projects at a time, rather than running many in parallel, so each one gets proper attention.
What we need from you: Nothing — this stage is entirely on us.
Typical length: Simple projects can be built within a single week; more complex builds take several weeks.
Your finished piece is delivered and installed with care. Delivery and installation are included in your project price — no separate line item, no surprise costs.
What we need from you: Access to your home on install day.
Typical length: A few days for more complex installs; often same-day for simpler projects.
There are two timeline factors worth understanding upfront:
We'll give you a specific estimate for your project during the consultation — no guessing required.
Absolutely — we often find customers have a good sense of what they want but haven't considered how components interact functionally. We'll help you think through the details and how they affect your budget.
Yes, always — it's included in your project price.
No — we don't take on standalone-component projects, and we typically don't retrofit existing built-ins. At the moment, we only focus on complete, custom-designed pieces.
